Senator Fran Pavley is completing her second term in the California State Senate, where she represents the 27th District, encompassing parts of Los Angeles and Ventura counties. Prior to being elected to Senate, she served three terms in the California State Assembly. Over her 14 years in the Legislature, she has become known as one of the most effective legislators in Sacramento. Serving with integrity and vision, the former Mayor of Agoura Hills and long-time public school teacher had over 70 of her bills and resolutions become law.
Senator Payley’s work as a lawmaker has focused on education, the environment, consumer protection, public safety and creating a clean, secure energy future for California and the United States. Her landmark legislation on global warming has become a model for other states and countries, and the Clean Car law she authored in 2002 became the basis for federal guidelines requiring automakers to meet a 54.5 mpg fuel-efficiency standard by the 2025 model year.
