Abby Young is the Manager of the Bay Area Air Quality Management District’s Climate Protection Program. In this capacity, Ms. Young is responsible for managing the development of the Air District’s Regional Climate Protection Strategy and coordinating the implementation of all the Air District’s greenhouse gas-related work. During her nine years at the Air District, she has developed and managed a $3 million grant program for local governments and nonprofits to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, coordinated a regional climate leadership summit, and has developed technical guidance and assistance programs to local governments in developing and implementing local climate action plans. Prior to working at the Air District, Ms. Young spent 11 years working with local governments to reduce greenhouse gas emissions at ICLEI—Local Governments for Sustainability, as Director of the U.S. Cities for Climate Protection Campaign, overseeing the development of training programs and workshops, software and research to assist local governments in achieving their climate protection goals.
